Capturing the beauty of creation in Northeast Nebraska and Southeast South Dakota

What I Paint is a Reflection of the Things That Mean the Most to Me.
Jolene has been capturing the beauty she sees since her earliest memories, but began painting in earnest as a means of healing after the traumatic loss of two of her children. Self-taught, she has developed her personal style and technique while focusing her subjects on the gifts God has given her: the wide-open skies with blazing sun rise and sunsets, rolling hills, flowing creeks and lakes, grazing cattle, wildflowers, gardens, community, and her children.
Country Cycling
One activity Jeff and I enjoy is cycling. The Tour de Nebraska 5 day ride in June falls in a favorable window between farm responsibilities. Touring the state of Nebraska on our (non motorized) bicycles gives us great joy to study the landscapes, explore and enjoy the hospitality of hosting towns. The route changes each year and this scene is located northeast of Broken Bow.
A Big Tree
Limited edition of 50 Artist enhanced canvas prints. Image size 19x24 ~ Framed $385. Also available in mini Giclee print, image size 8 x 10: $25 Framed (11 x 14) $70
This is one of my cover works for "Nebraska Life Magazine". The cover story was about Nebraska's biggest trees and what more could tell the story than two boys typically admiring such a big tree.
A Quiet Place
St. Helena, NE is a beautiful, historic place in Northeast Nebraska, just a 20 minute drive away. One would be surprised that I would paint such a scene but I felt a special quietness when I visited. Some of the earliest settlers that came up the Missouri River are buried in this secluded place. At one time the river came so close that it took part of the cemetery away down the river. Civil War veterans are buried here. I appreciate the history of this peaceful spot and honor those buried here as one does anytime they visit a cemetery.
